Eve achieves place at University of St Andrews to study Art History and Medieval History

August 2026

Eve achieved the A-Level grades that she needed to study Art History and Medieval History at the University of St Andrews.

Eve joined King's Ely Prep in Year 7 as a boarder from a school in Hong Kong. She went on to be appointed a Queen's Scholar, Academic Scholar, and Co-Head of School in Sixth Form.

Eve studied Fine Art, History, and Maths for her A-Levels. She also completed an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), titled: 'Why have there been no great Women Artists? An analysis of the Feminist Art Movement’s impact on the Western Art World'.

We caught up with Eve after she received her A-Level results to find out more about her King's experience and what her next steps are...

Eve, what career path do you plan on pursuing?

I am not exactly certain! Perhaps something in the publishing sphere or the art auction industry.

What is the quality and style of teaching like at King’s?

I genuinely could not have asked for better teachers. The support I received, especially during the intense A-Level period, was superb. I got along really well with all of my teachers, which I think was so significant in me gaining a real curiosity and desire to learn, which I know I will take forward with my further study. Also, my relationships with staff in my boarding house (Hill) was brilliant and often Mrs Jackson, my Housemistress, knew that I needed some help and a hug before I did!

What else did you participate in during your time at King’s?

I tried to throw myself into many of the opportunities that King’s had to offer! I was lucky enough to be Co-Head of School this past year alongside Chip, as well as being a Scholar. I participated in Chapel Choir, various Drama productions, like 'Legally Blonde' and 'Guys and Dolls', as well as playing for the Football Team. I also enjoyed the History extra-curriculars on offer, like History Café and An Other Club. I pushed myself most out of my comfort zone while doing House Debating, and was really proud to make it to the final this year with Oynisa.

Do you feel that you have been well supported pastorally at King’s?

A-Levels are very stressful, but I always had someone to talk to, especially in Hill House. But even in the Old Palace, Mrs Halls helped me so much and I always came away from our chats feeling much more self-assured and calmer.

What will you miss most about King’s and what did you enjoy most during your time here?

I will miss the people the most. The friends and teachers I met have made such a huge impact on my life, and I really hope I can carry these relationships forward with me. My favourite memories from school will definitely be from my Sixth Form boarding experience. I spent so many school teas sitting and chatting for hours on end with my best friends, so I will miss this a lot!

In what ways do you think King’s is unique or special compared to other schools?

I think King’s has the ability to cater to all different types of people and make everyone feel like they are important and valued.

Describe King’s in three words!

Encouraging, consistent, historical.
