Tax Relief on Donantions
Donations to charity from individuals are tax free. You can get tax relief if you donate:
- Through Gift Aid
- Straight from your wages or pension, through Payroll Giving
- Leave charitable donations in your will (reduce inheritance tax)
- King's Ely are HMRC Registered and can claim back the tax already paid on your donation.
Gift Aid |
---|
Donating through Gift Aid means charities and community amateur sports clubs (CASCs) can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give. It does not cost you any extra. As long as you are a UK taxpayer and sign a Gift Aid declaration, King's Ely is able to reclaim basic rate tax, which currently equates to 25p for every £1 donated. If you pay tax above the 20% basic rate you can claim back the difference between the tax you have paid on the donation and what the charity got back when you fill in your self-assessment tax return. Regular Giving |
---|
A suggested monthly donation of £15.41, in honour of the year the school received its Royal Charter, grants membership to the King's Ely 1541 Club. While many members choose to contribute more, the 1541 Club is built on inclusivity, allowing supporters to give at a level that suits them. Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a meaningful impact. * Donors who make an annual gift of £970 or more to King’s Ely have their name included in the School’s list of benefactors. |
One-off Donations |
King's Ely can trace its origins from at least 970 AD, making it one of the oldest schools in the country. The 970 Society honors our most generous and committed donors. Contributions from 970 Society members support every facet of the School, providing essential resources to strengthen and grow academic programs, enrich student life, attract and retain talented faculty, and expand financial aid. Donors have the option to direct how their gifts are used or entrust us to allocate funds where they are most needed. |
