There was barely a dry eye in the house at our Year 2 King's Ely Acremont Pre-Prep pupils' End of Year Performance - and we do not think the intense humidity was to blame!

Families and friends of Team Year 2 came together in the Hayward Theatre to witness them perform the charming story of 'Frobisher Goes Out' - written by our very own Year 2 Teacher, Mr Simon Dean - through acting, singing, and words.

Inspired by the children's learning topic, 'From Icy Shores to Forest Floors', which explores the Polar regions and the Amazon, the production really enabled them to showcase their individuality, charm, stage presence, and good humour!

Lines were remembered and delivered impeccably, and as for the singing; wow. It was when the children sang "I'm On My Way" that emotions were high, as it hit home with their loved ones and teachers that their time at Acremont Pre-Prep was coming to an end.

Before Year 2 enjoyed cookies and cuddles with their families, gifts were presented to Mrs Leah Wheatley, our other Year 2 Teacher, before she headed off on maternity leave. As many of you will have seen on our social media platforms, Mrs Wheatley and her husband, Laurence, have since welcomed their beautiful daughter, Wilma Betty, into the world.

Mrs Faye Fenton-Stone, Head of Acremont Pre-Prep, said: "From Reception's ‘Mega Mighty Minibeasts’ to Year 1’s ‘Flutterpillar’, concluding with Year 2’s premiere of ‘Frobisher Goes Out’, the progression of humour and timing, along with the complexity of language and subject matter really shone through. If you have ever tried it, I can tell you that it is not easy to speak to an audience following such inspiring songs as Year 2’s "I'm On My Way". You look across at these trusting, committed faces, focused and trying their very best and recall their former, smaller selves in Nursery or on their first day at ‘big school’ and feel real joy for the journey each child has travelled, and for their adventures yet to come."

Well done, Year 2. Thank you to all Year 2 staff for their constant nurture and guidance, and of course our parents and carers for their support too - we could not do it without you!
