The Sixth Form team is available to help you with that choice, even before you enter the Sixth Form.
Our students choose three core subjects and are able to combine traditional, creative and vocational courses. Great care is taken to advise students in selecting a programme of study that strikes a balance between challenge and enjoyment whilst playing to their strengths and longer term aspirations.
Students are also able to take the Extended Project Qualification alongside their core subjects. Highly valued by universities and employers, this is a popular and very successful option at King’s Ely.
Your subject choices will be based on your strengths and, of course, your preferences, but they will also importantly take account of your ambitions for Higher Education and life after school.
On a practical note, most students study three subjects for A Level. Each subject usually consists of six lessons a week, with an additional expectation of four to six hours of independent study.
There is also the opportunity to take the EPQ (Extended Project Qualification), an independent research project which is viewed favourably by universities. Sixth formers can also study a Business OCR Cambridge Technical qualification which offers a more vocational pathway for students.
Learning should be a fulfilling and rewarding experience. We want our pupils to feel both supported and challenged with their work. We encourage pupils to take risks with their learning and strive to do their best.

We also offer the Extended Project Qualification which can be taken alongside the A Level programme.
Our PSHE/Extended Learning programme in the Sixth Form helps prepare students for the challenges they may encounter whilst at school or in the future as young adults.
