Kings Ely sixth form
Academic
A Level Philosophy and Religious Studies
The course challenges many of our assumptions about what we know and how we should live.
At King's Ely, RS is a popular subject with an outstanding academic record.
The course comprises three parts: Philosophy of Religion, Ethics and Study of Religion.
Religion and Philosophy is a discipline concerned with how different views of the world clash or fit together, and with how far different perspectives (moral, scientific, religious, metaphysical, personal) may be reconciled.
Philosophy is concerned with epistemology (theories of knowledge); it is therefore an inter-disciplinary subject and will complement both Art and Science A Levels.
The Ethics component makes it an excellent choice for those wishing to pursue a career in Medicine or the Bio-Sciences.

Study of Religion (Buddhism)Philosophy of ReligionReligion and EthicsThe course consists of three papers: Philosophy of Religion, Religion and Ethics and Study of a Religion (Buddhism). Philosophy involves a critical examination of our most fundamental beliefs about truth and reality, right and wrong. It challenges many of our assumptions about what we know and how we should live. It is a discipline concerned with how different views of the world clash or fit together, and with how far different perspectives may be reconciled. As an inter-disciplinary subject, Philosophy and Ethics will compliment both Arts and Science ‘A’ Levels. Many students choose this subject as their principal ‘A’ Level and go on to read Philosophy, Philosophy, Politics and Economics, RS or indeed any other Arts degree such as Law. The Ethics component makes it an excellent choice for those wishing to pursue a career in Medicine or the Biological Sciences. |
