The dynamic boarding environment at King’s Ely encourages pupils to live their lives to the full.
“Our son's English has improved so much over the last two years. He found all of his lessons really interesting, and loved doing experiments in Science and working as a group with other students in Maths. His teachers and friends were all very helpful, in fact he didn’t want to come back to China at all!”
King's Ely parents, Mr Yang and Mrs Yu
At King’s Ely, we are extremely proud that our boarding houses, some of which date back to the Middle Ages, reflect the world in the 21st century.
Boarders appreciate what it means to be part of a highly supportive community and actively encourage each other to achieve their potential. Living and growing together, students understand how their actions affect others; they learn to be considerate and tolerant of different views as well as resilient to the challenges that life and learning can bring.
Our international students benefit from a fully integrated experience in our boarding houses with British full and flexi-boarders as well as some day students. In Years 9-11 there is a maximum of 3-4 to a room whilst our A Level students benefit from single or double rooms in Year 12 and mostly single rooms in Year 13.
There is a programme of Saturday and Sunday events including a number of full day trips as well as options during the week to access the school gym, sports hall, library as well as the arts and music facilities in the evenings.
