Oscar will be studying Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the University of York after achieving the A-Level grades he needed.
Oscar joined King's Ely Sixth Form from another independent school. He studied Maths, Economics, Computer Science, and Spanish at A-Level. Oscar also completed an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) themed on the impacts of AI on cybersecurity.
When asked what he plans to do career wise, Oscar said: "After University, I would like to do a Masters on cybersecurity or AI."
To describe King's in three words, Oscar chose "friendly, supportive, community".
Oscar was a full-time boarder in Hereward House. He said: "Lots of activities were organised for students in different year groups, which really helped to create a strong sense of community in both the boarding houses and school itself. These events gave everyone the chance to connect, make friends, and feel included. The school also ran competitions and fundraising activities to help raise money for developing countries. For me, that combination of community spirit and helping others is something that makes King’s very special."
When asked about the teaching and learning environment at King's, Oscar said: "My teachers were all very supportive. They always explained any questions that I asked, and I also attended revision sessions during breaktimes, which helped me improve on any weak points. I would sometimes send questions via Outlook during holidays or outside school hours, and my teachers always responded."
Outside the classroom, Oscar enjoyed playing Basketball and Football at King's. He said: "I played for both the 1st and 2nd Football Teams, and I served as a House Prefect. I also had the opportunity to try new activities offered by the school, such as Pickleball."
When asked what he will miss most about King's, Oscar said: "I will really miss the social events, such as the Chinese New Year celebrations and House Song. King's is a very welcoming community, and there are lots of opportunities for students to find their passions and grow in confidence."
Congratulations Oscar - enjoy York and keep in touch!
