We had such a fantastic week with our friends from Saint Joseph - La Salle Toulouse thanks to our thriving French Exchange programme!
Twenty-two students and a group of their teachers visited King's from March 9th-16th, following our successful trip to their school and homes in Southern France in May last year.
Our partnership with Saint Joseph – La Salle Toulouse is now in its sixth year, and as ever, students fully immersed themselves into school and family life when here in Ely!
Highlights included students attending lessons alongside their exchange partners, a tour of Ely Cathedral, a dance masterclass with Miss Hobbs, a visit to Cambridge University Botanic Garden, a photo treasure hunt around Cambridge, and of course dining in our Monastic Barn.
Madame Brigitte Bousquet, Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) at King's Ely Senior, said: "As highlighted in our latest ISI inspection report, exchanges are among the most powerful tools for cultural and linguistic learning. They challenge students to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new perspectives, all while building resilience. They make them more tolerant and accepting of differences. They also vividly demonstrate the cross-curricular links that bring education to life.
"My sincere thanks go to all of our host families for their warm welcome, and to my colleagues without whom none of this would be possible. We are already looking forward to the return leg of the exchange when we travel to Toulouse in May!"
Our MFL Department is organising a cultural study trip to the beautiful coastal city of Montpellier in the south of France.
The trip is open to current Year 10 and Year 12 students, as well as Year 11 students who intend to continue with French at A-Level. The programme will include French language lessons, visits to Nîmes and the Pont du Gard, an excursion to the Camargue, a range of cultural workshops, and much more.
